Fire Destroys Lothian Home, Displaces 7
Another home on B Street was severely damaged as firefighters battled the flames early Friday morning.
A two-alarm fire destroyed one mobile home and severely damaged another early Friday morning in Lothian, and seven people have been displaced.
Battalion Chief Matt Tobia of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units responded at about 3:45 a.m. to B Street in the Lion's Creek Mobile Home Park. They arrived to find two mobile homes heavily engulfed in flames. They immediately called for assistance and the fire escalated to two alarms.
About 60 firefighters were on scene, including those from Calvert County, Prince George's County and Annapolis City.
Paramedics transported an 80-year-old woman to Calvert Memorial hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. A total of seven people, including an infant, were displaced and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
Tobia said the cause of the fire is under investigation. He said there was not yet a dollar estimate on the damage, but that one of the mobile homes was completely destroyed and a second was damaged heavily.
