Fire Consumes Vacant Home in Shady Side

It took 31 firefighters to quench the flames.

A vacant home in Shady Side sustained serious damage when a fire consumed half of the structure early Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Holly Avenue in Shady Side for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, crews found a vacant home that had already been half-consumed by the flames, according to Chief Michael Cox of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

It took 31 firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. There were no injuries, and the cause and cost of the fire are still being determined, Cox said.
