Elks Lodge Will Host Cyclist Who Plans to Ride Through 48 States

Scot King, a veteran and president of 'Remember the Wounded Ride' will be presented a flag.

Annapolis Elk's Lodge #622 in Edgewater is hosting a "Remember The Wounded Ride" (RTWR) fundraiser at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. The dinner will be held for former Marine Corp. Scot King, who is president and founder of RTWR. King will be at the lodge. He is both an Elk and a veteran.

Scot is bicycling through 48 states. Along the way, he plans to make many stops at Elk lodges promoting the wounded warrior cause. In addition, King will be interviewing combat wounded veterans and collecting their stories for a series of books that will chronicle their experiences.

King is also collecting state flags and our lodge has a beautiful Maryland state flag for him to take back to Portland. These flags will be presented in the Veterans' Memorial Colisium in Oregon during a special ceremony at the end of his ride. Each Flag will represent the combat Wounded Veterans' of its respective State and their service to our Country.

The Elks has invited elected officials and representatives of veteran groups and commissions to attend.

The Elks will be using the event to help King raise money for his charity. The price for dinner is $14.95 for filet mignon and crabcake. Of that, $5 of each meal will assist veterans and their families.

The Annapolis Elks Lodge has combat wounded veterans as members— many of whom we are very proud. Many of them will be present this night.

Call Mary E. O'Brien, Annapolis Lodge Exalted Ruler, title, for tickets: 410-956-8434, cell: 410-919-3717. Seating is limited and all Elk members and their families are encouraged to attend.

At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 24th, Scot will be at the deli across the street from the State Capitol reciting The Pledge Of Allegiance with other Elk members. This event has been organized by Annapolis Elk Julie Sisk. While there, King will be presented a Maryland flag.
