Edgewater's Summit School Raises Money for Haiti

Parents and students raise money to assist hospital in earthquake-ravaged Caribbean nation.

On Feb. 11, a group of Summit School students and parents braved the cold to sell coffee, hot chocolate, and baked goods during Friday morning carpool.

Their efforts raised more than $500 for L'Hôpital de la Communauté Haítienne, a 50-bed hospital in the Fréres Neighborhood of Petion-Ville in the Carbbean nation of Haiti.

The recent Cholera epidemic sparked the students to raise the funds. Other fundraising events are being planned throughout the month, including “Change for Haiti,” a student contest to donate allowance and loose change.

The Summit School raised money for L'Hôpital de la Communauté Haítienne in early 2010 after the devastating earthquake.
