Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Chatting with SRHS Athlete Michael Seaberg

Michael Seaberg is a senior on South River High School's varsity swim team.

Patch stopped by South River High School on Jan. 31 and spoke with senior Michael Seaberg, 17, about his swimming career and life at SRHS.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What is your favorite South River swimming memory?
Michael Seaberg: I would say either winning states sophomore year or racing Michael Phelps in the 100-meter breast when I was 15. He came to a meet that his original club hosts and he kept returning to swim in it for fun. He beat me by a lot but it was still fun.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: How is your season going so far and what are your expectations heading into the postseason?
Seaberg:
Good. Our regular season has ended and the postseason is beginning. I want to win states. I have been working hard, but states is where it gets really hard because Montgomery County has a lot of good swimmers.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What other groups or activities do you participate in at South River High School?
Seaberg: I swim for South River and the Naval Academy Athletic Club. I am also in SGA.

Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch: What are your plans after high school?
Seaberg: Duke University to swim—I was on campus for only like 10 minutes but it felt right. The other ones didn’t feel that way. I want to major in electrical engineering.

The best of luck to you! Durham/Duke is a wonderful place, Danie and I spent a few months in 09 down there and did not want to come home!
