Two South River High field hockey athletes were selected to the first-team All-State squad last week, the second most of any Maryland school, and one was named on the honorable mention squad.
According to The Baltimore Sun, the state Field Hockey Coaches Association released its list for All-State first-team, second-team and honorable mention. Three Seahawks were among those named to the various lists.
Abbey Lawrence and Taylor Bresnahan both earned first-team honors for their play in attack and defense respectively. Midfielder Anna Wagner made it to the honorable mention squad too.
The three local girls led South River's field hockey team to its second state championship in seven years, defeating Catonsville High 6-0.
