10 Least Popular Holiday Songs: What's Yours?

From singing dogs to a philandering Santa Claus, these recordings came in last place in a recent survey.

Odds are there's at least one Christmas recording filling the airwaves each December that you absolutely, positively, cannot stand.

Maybe it's something about the vocalist. Maybe the song brings up less than cheerful memories. Maybe the carol itself is just plain awful.

Whatever the reason, you're not alone. Edison Research, a company specializing in marketing and polling, has published a list of least liked holiday songs for 2012.

To compile its rankings, the company polled a group of 200 women ages 30-49 "who said they liked or loved hearing Christmas music on the radio." (The sample may be somewhat unrepresentative of the broader population, but we're willing to bet a few of these recordings would show up on a great many "least favorite" lists.)

Coming in a regrettable first place was "Jingle Bells" by The Singing Dogs, a 1955 standard that many would rather relegate to the dustbin of musical history. Hot on its heels: "The Man With All The Toys" by The Beach Boys and "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” by Spike Jones.

On the flipside, the company found the late Andy Williams’ "It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" to be the crowd favorite. "You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" also fared well.

Find the full list of least-liked holiday recordings—along with links to YouTube versions—below:

It's gotta be Oh Holy Night by Cartman. It's kind of sacralegious (sp?) and just annoying as hell.

I hate the song by Paul McCartney that has a chorus of "Simply having a wonderful Christmas time." I have heard that song since Thanksgiving at least 20 times a day and I heard it all last year, and I'm sick of it! It's not even a good song! Disappointed in you, Paul!

Holiday songs? Seems that the entire list of titles has to do with Christmas. Enough of this unnecessary crap. Call the occasion what it is: Christmas. I doubt whether the Jewish faith would like their Chanukah traditional songs banished to the holiday catch-all. Folks that are offended by the word Christmas...get over it, and if you can't do that-leave. we have no room in the real America for rigid intolerance and bigotry. Read the Bill of Rights. Doesn't say a thing about separation of church, state, or anything else. It does make clear that all faiths are free to practice their religious beliefs, and not in secret. The writers just wanted to insure that the new government would not be allowed to create a mandatory religious tradition, like Henry the 8th did, the enforcement of which helped drive some groups to seek a place to worship God as they wanted to, and not what the King required. Funny how our country, once the beacon of freedom, has become a prison for ideas, exceptionalism and individual rights to pursue happiness. All together now...HAPPY CHANUKAH and MERRY CHRISTMAS. Two faith based celebrations each with a rich tradition. Folks that don't believe in a Higher Power? That's okay too, just don't try to infringe on the rest of us. The USA would even support an atheist holiday, I'm pretty sure, so go ahead and make one up. We'll support your freedom of expression as well, and get a chance to show you how to behave toward us.

It is as simple as we are celebrating the birth of Christ, not the birthday of a holiday! IT'S MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Also, if you ever want to hear a song absolutely trashed, check out Jingle Bells by Barbra Streisand. That is the worst piece of song destruction I have ever heard!
