Mayo Elementary School Recertified As A Maryland Green School!
- School: Mayo Elementary School
- Award: Maryland Green School
Mayo Elementary School has again been awarded Maryland Green School status by MAEOE, Maryland Organization for Environmental and Outdoor Education. Mayo Elementary first earned their Green School status in 2008, and for the last four years has continued to grow and expand their environmental awareness programs for their students. Beginning this year, the students in the Mayo Elementary Environmental Club (MEEC) have been taking part in the Maryland Grows Oysters program in conjunction with the South River Federation. The entire school focuses on school wide recycling, waste free lunches, and conservation. On Friday, April 20, 2012, parents and students alike came together for the annual Beautification Day at the school. Beautiful weather complemented the efforts put forth as community and school came together to weed, mulch and plant trees on this special day. Mayo students and their families are to be commended on their ongoing support of our earth and our school. Great job, Mayo Elementary!
